Your neighborhood vet, without the corporate feel
A vet visit should feel like going to a neighbor, not a chain clinic, and not a road trip you dread.
Etowah Animal Hospital is a brand-new, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital built inside Rome’s historic Homestead Restaurant at 1401 Kingston Rd NE, Rome, GA 30161. Led by Dr. Abby White, we care for dogs and cats from Rome, Floyd County, and nearby towns in Bartow, Polk, Gordon, and Chattooga counties, plus Cedar Bluff, Alabama. Most clients reach us in under 45 minutes.
Families drive here on purpose for modern diagnostics, thorough medicine, honest answers, and a noticeably calmer visit—from our low-stress Casco WellKennels and a privately owned team that lives here and isn’t bound by corporate rules!
We are the hospital your neighbors drive to on purpose!

Why families from surrounding towns come here
- Easy to reach. We sit on the northeast side of Rome, where Kingston Road (GA-293) comes into town. East Rome, Mount Berry, Shannon, Armuchee, Kingston and Adairsville never have to cross town. West Rome, Lindale, Silver Creek and Cave Spring are a short, familiar drive.
- You are not a number. Dr. Abby White has practiced and lived here in Rome for 14 years before we opened our own hospital, where decisions are made for your pet in front of you.
- Real medicine. Calmer visits. In-house diagnostics (digital X-rays, ultrasound and lab work), low-stress handling, and a warmed Casco WellKennel when your pet needs to stay with us.
- A plan you can actually follow. Practical recommendations, clear education, and fair, honest pricing. We welcome you and your pets into our family, and we work to instill confidence with every wag and purr.

A hospital that still belongs to Rome
This building used to be the Homestead Restaurant. We bought it from the family that built it in 1941 and we spent more than a year turning it into a veterinary hospital that still feels like home.
You should not have to leave town, or leave the feeling of a hometown practice, to get high quality care. Some families drive an hour to reach us because they followed Dr. White, coming from Menlo, Fairmount and Ranger in Georgia, from Centre, Gaylesville and Leesburg in Cherokee County, Alabama, and from the Acworth, Dallas and Buchanan areas south and east of us. We will make that trip worth it.
Coming from 30 minutes out? Make one trip count.
- Send records ahead with our records transfer form so we are ready when you walk in.
- See every pet in one visit. We can usually book the household back to back.
- Call before you leave if it is urgent. We hold time for same-day cases, so call us and let us know you’re on the way.
- Bundle wellness with the Paw Plan so you make fewer trips across the year.
